About CityScape, Metaphysics of Dream

The central theme of this series is 'a place of solace in one's mind’s eye. My interpretation of 'a place of solace' is a place of healing where one can dreams, thinks, searches, reflects and hopes.

CityScape Series is a visual juxtapositions and narrative of my personal views of humanity, nature, culture and history. Subject in these images are inspired by current affairs in the world that I read about: wars, climate, environmental projects, struggles and triamphs of everyday life, for example.

I remember seeing a photograph of an Iraqi child standing with an Operation Iraq solider in the BBC a few years ago. This child’s home town were distroyed by the war. He was crying. What made a lasting impression on me was not only his heartbreaking tears but that he was holding a Crackerjack snack wrapper probably given to him by the solider. No amount of food nor material can erase what this child has witnessed. The solider knows this and trying to do the best given the particular circumstance. I felt so deeply moved that I wanted to create an image of a place of solace for children with no homes. My earlier image titled 'City of Hope' is one of them.
